Wonderful event and great energy.
Such a great atmosphere with athletes of all ages and abilities taking part in the National XC Championships in Abbotsford.
Brian took forth overall and the FTRS Masters 50 Team took the gold with Shane, Syl and Chuck.
For myself, I had some issues with my back flaring up, not sure of cause, but it was a "no go from tower!"
Training is progressing well and there are a number of events coming up before the holiday break.
On the training side I have been focusing on the Mileage Game plus HYROX specific workouts and short intervals, following the principles of Jan Olbrecht for the Mileage Game and Frans Bosch for the Iron Game.
With Jan Olbrecht the focus is on easy mileage but also short intervals and short interval workouts followed by as much volume as you can manage in terms of schedule and stress load.
The aim is to complete each workout with purpose, full effort & enjoy the process and it is never "just another day at the office" when you are in the gym or on the trail. My easy mileage with short efforts are done Running (treadmill & outdoors), Skiing, SkiErg, Rowing Machine, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Lunges, Farmers Carry, Wall Balls, Rope Climb and Burpee Board Jump.
With Frans Bosch the focus is also on quality duplicating the demands of high intensity training with low intensity training with exercises that demand the body to move in the way you want the body to move come completion day.
I take a similar approach to strength training specifically preparing for HYROX with easy endurance strength spiced with short power strength.
